INFORMATION FOR HIRERS
The following conditions are a summary only. For full terms and conditions, see our rental contract.
GENERAL
Drivers must be 21 years or older with full driving license.
Depending on vehicle type and location, the rental may allow up to 4 drivers free of charge.
Legal conditions for use of foreign licenses in NZ can be found on the NZTA website
The hirer is responsible for any infringement notices relating to use of the vehicle (speeding, parking, etc).
PRICES
All prices are quoted in New Zealand dollars (NZD); GST (tax) is included except where indicated.
Prices quoted on this website, by email or phone are subject to remaining availability and may change without notice.
BOOKINGS, CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS
Bookings are confirmed when we have taken a deposit (typcally 10%).
The booking deposit is fully refundable if the hire is cancelled more than 14 days prior to commencement.
Refunds may be avaialble for early returns if notice is given 48 hours or more before the return (a higher daily rental rate may apply to the shorter hire).
INSURANCE
Subject to the exclusions listed below, the hirer is covered by our insurance policy for all damage. The hirer will be liable for an insurance excess/deductible.
INSURANCE EXCLUSIONS
The insurance cover referred to above does not apply where the damage, injury or loss arrises when -
- The driver of the vehicle is under the influence of alcohol or any drug that affects their ability to drive the vehicle.
- The vehicle is in an unsafe or unroadworthy condition that arose during the course of the hire (where the hirer or driver was aware or ought to have been aware of the vehicle condition).
- The vehicle is operated in a race, speed test, rally or contest.
- The vehicle is driven by any person whose details are not completed on our copy of the rental contract.
- The vehicle is driven by a disqualified driver or any driver who does not hold an appropriate license for the vehicle.
- The vehicle is willfully or recklessly damaged by the hirer.
- The vehicle is operated on any of the following roads:
a. Ski-field roads (beyond the main carpark)
b. North island: Ninety Mile Beach
c. North island: Colville/Cape Colville Road
d. South island: Ball Hutt Road
e. South island: Skippers Road - The vehicle is damaged by water submersion or salt water damage.
- The vehicle is damaged by incorrect use or fitting of extras and accessories (such as snow chains, roof racks, etc).
- The vehicle is operated outside the term of the hire or any agreed extension of that term.
OWNER & HIRER OBLIGATIONS
The owner agrees to supply the vehicle in a safe and roadworthy condition.
The hirer must agree to check water in radiator/battery, tyre pressures/tread depth and oil for the engine/gear box.
The hirer must notify the owner of any warning light/gauge, complaint, defect or failure of the vehicle.
The hirer must take reasonable care driving, handling, locking and parking the vehicle to avoid damage or loss.
RETURN OF VEHICLE
The vehicle must be returned on or before the time of contract termination to the location specified on the contract.
The vehicle must return in a reasonably clean state ('reasonably clean' is determined at the discretion of the duty manager on the day of return).
The hirer must ensure the vehicle is returned with the same level of fuel (specified on the rental contract).
